Overview

Released in October 2007, the Nissan K12 Micra was a light, five-door hatchback. Manufactured in Oppama, Japan, the front-wheel drive Micra was powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine – with double overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder – that was mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

Underpinned by Nissan’s B platform, the K12 Micra was 3719 mm long, 1660 mm wide, 1535 mm tall and had a 2415 mm long wheelbase. Furthermore, the Micra was fitted with MacPherson strut front suspension, while the rear suspension utilised an H-shaped torsion beam.

Safety equipment

Standard safety equipment for the K12 Micra included dual front airbags, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, active front seat head restraints and front seatbelt pretensioners. Front side airbags and curtain airbags were available as part of an optional package which also included alloy wheels and a six-stack CD player.

ANCAP crash testing

In ANCAP crash testing , a K12 Micra fitted with dual front airbags received a three star adult occupant protection rating with a score of 22.18 out of 37. In the frontal offset crash test, protection from serious neck, chest and leg injury was marginal for the driver. In the side impact test, there was a moderate risk of serious chest injury for the driver.

Features

Standard Micra features included 14-inch steel wheels with 165/70 R14 tyres, a four speaker sound system with a CD player, MP3-compatibility and auxiliary input (3.5 mm), air conditioning, 60/40 split and folding rear seats, remote central locking, power windows, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat, 12 volt power outlet and an immobiliser.
