Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Great Wall K2 V200 Cab Chassis

  • In August 2012, a recall was issued for Great Wall V200 Cab Chassis vehicles due to three gaskets in the exhaust system containing a small amount of bonded asbestos fibre. The gaskets were to remain in the vehicle until normal in-service replacement was necessary, although customers could request that the affected gaskets be replaced. For additional information regarding this recall, please see PRA 2012/13250. As per the recall,
‘There is no asbestos-related health risk to the driver or any passengers who use the vehicle. The gaskets are tightly embedded in the vehicle and present no hazard during normal operation of the vehicle.’
  • In January 2014, a recall was issued for Great Wall V200 Cab Chassis vehicles due to a wiring harness which could come into contact with the bottom of the radiator and wear through its outer protector sleeve. This could result in an earthing point which would prevent the wiring system from functioning correctly, causing the alternator dash light to illuminate or a flat battery; in extreme cases, the wiring harness may melt. For the list of the vehicles affected by VIN, please see PRA 2014/13944.
  • In May 2015, a recall was issued for Great Wall V200 Cab Chassis vehicles due to a ‘plastic welding intensity production problem’ during manufacture of the fuel filler neck assembly. Due to the plastic’s insufficient thickness, the fuel filler neck may fracture and cause diesel vapour to escape into the atmosphere (PRA 2015/14674).
