Recalls: Genesis RG3 G80
Overview
Recalls are issued for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Manufacturers or importers seek to inform the original buyer if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. However, manufacturers or importers may not have the contact details of subsequent owners. Please note that the recalls below are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Genesis RG3 G80
2021 Genesis RG3 G80 2.5T GDI: defective fuel delivery pipe could leak fuel
In June 2021, recall campaign 11D051 was issued for 2021 Genesis RG3 G80 2.5T GDI vehicles. The fuel delivery pipes for these vehicles may be defective and fuel may therefore leak out of the pipes. Fuel leakage created a fire risk when the engine was hot and a vehicle fire increased the risk of a collision; both circumstances increased the risk of injury to vehicle occupants, other road and bystanders, and/or damage to property. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-001660.
2022 Genesis RG3 G80 EV: seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap and metal fragments
In December 2022, recall campaign 21D148 was issued for 2022 Genesis RG3 G80 EV vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap may fracture when deployed in the event of a collision. If the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap fractured, metal fragments may be propelled at high speed towards the vehicle occupants – these could cause serious injury. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005574.
2020-24 Genesis RG3 G80: seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap and metal fragments
In June 2023, recall campaign 31D015 was issued for 2020-24 Genesis RG3 G80 vehicles. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005715.
2022-24 Genesis RG3 G80: ICCU software, battery drainage and potential loss of power
In April 2024, recall campaign 41D034 was issued for 2022-24 Genesis RG3 G80 vehicles. Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), the auxiliary 12 volt battery may not charge as intended – this could cause battery drainage and a loss of motive power. If a loss of motive power occurred whilst driving, there would be an increased risk of a collision and injury for both vehicle occupants and other road users. For this recall, a Genesis Motor Australia dealership was to update the ICCU software. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005943.
2021-22 Genesis RG3 G80: fuel pump impeller could deform and interrupt fuel supply
In August 2024, recall campaign 41D073 was issued for 2021-22 Genesis RG3 G80 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel pump impeller may deform under certain conditions, interrupting the fuel supply. If this occurred, the engine could stall and the vehicle would experience a sudden loss of motive power. If this occurred whilst driving, the risk of a collision and injury to both vehicle occupants and other road users would be increased. For this recall, a Genesis Motor Australia dealer was to inspect and replace the fuel pump impeller. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006055.
