Recalls: Dodge PM Caliber
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.
Recalls: Dodge PM Caliber
2006 Dodge PM Caliber: rear wheels may lock-up
In March 2007, a recall was issued for Dodge PM Caliber vehicles that were manufactured from 7 September 2006 to 18 November 2006 (MDH 090707-111801). In these vehicles, the software programmed into the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) control module may cause the rear wheels to lock up under certain braking conditions (PRA 2007/9086).
2007 model year Dodge PM Caliber: accelerator pedal may stick
In June 2010, a recall was issued for 2007 model year PM Caliber vehicles. In these vehicles, the accelerator pedal may stick during vehicle operation – this could cause a serious accident and injury (PRA 2010/12930).
2010-12 Dodge PM Caliber: airbag and seatbelt pre-tensioner may not deploy
In October 2016, a recall was issued for 2010-12 Dodge PM Caliber vehicles because a short circuit could cause a negative voltage signal to be transmitted from the front impact sensor wires to the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) in the event of a collision. This, in turn, could cause a ‘loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability’, increasing the risk of injury to the occupants (PRA 2016/15680).
2006-09 Dodge PM Caliber: park brake may not engage
In July 2019, recall campaign G15 was issued for Jeep Compass vehicles that were available for sale from 6 June 2006 to 12 June 2009. In these vehicles, the length of the rear wheel hub mounting bolts could prevent the park brake from being applied. Under certain conditions, an inability to engage the parking brake could enable unintended movement of the vehicle and this posed a hazard to vehicle occupants, road users and bystanders. 2006-10 Dodge PM Caliber: headlamp levelling may not work properly
In July 2019, recall campaign G31 was issued for Dodge PM Caliber vehicles that were available for sale from 1 June 2006 to 31 January 2010. The Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in these vehicles may have been configured incorrectly and this may prevent the headlamp levelling system from operating properly. This could affect the performance of the headlights and increase the risk of a collision. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17630.

Dodge PM Caliber: engine doesn’t start/crank
In July 2008, Technical Service Bulletin 08-007-09 REV A was issued for 2007-08 Dodge PM Caliber vehicles that were manufactured on or before 5 May 2008 because the engine may not crank or start due to electronic lock-up of the Wireless Control Module (WCM) – also known as the Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREEM) – and the remote keyless entry (RKE) system does not operate. This may occur because of an electrostatic charge within the Wireless Control Module (WCM). To fix, the WCM needed to be replaced.
Dodge Caliber: Problems and faults
- The refrigerated compartment may not stay cold – this could be fixed by applying foam tape to the door.
- In extremely cold weather, the air conditioning compressor can be damaged by the refrigerant sludging up, requiring the compressor to be replaced with a unit that has a larger diameter drive pulley.
- Noises when the air conditioning is running may be from debris, requiring the air conditioning blower to be cleaned; a screen could also be installed on the air intake duct to prevent a recurrence.
