2022 Genesis JW1 GV60: white front quarterOverview

Recalls are issued for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Manufacturers or importers seek to inform the original buyer if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. However, manufacturers or importers may not have the contact details of subsequent owners. Please note that the recalls below are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Genesis JW1 GV60

2022-23 Genesis JW1 GV60: rear driveshaft could break

In June 2023, recall campaign 31D040 was issued for 2022-23 Genesis JW1 GV60 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the vehicle’s rear driveshaft may fracture and this would result in a sudden loss of motive power. If this occurred whilst driving, there would be an increased risk of a collision and injury for both vehicle occupants and other road users. Until the recall works were carried out, drivers were advised to drive with caution and listen for any abnormal noise. If noise could be heard from the rear of the vehicle, owners were advised to have to have vehicle delivered to a Genesis dealer. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005698.

2022-24 Genesis JW1 GV60: seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap and metal fragments

In June 2023, recall campaign 31D015 was issued for 2022-24 Genesis JW1 GV60 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap may fracture when deployed in the event of a collision. If the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator cap fractured, metal fragments may be propelled at high speed towards the vehicle occupants – these could cause serious injury. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005715.

2022-24 Genesis JW1 GV60: ICCU software, battery drainage and potential loss of power

In April 2024, recall campaign 41D034 was issued for 2022-24 Genesis JW1 GV60 vehicles. Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), the auxiliary 12 volt battery may not charge as intended – this could cause battery drainage and a loss of motive power. If a loss of motive power occurred whilst driving, there would be an increased risk of a collision and injury for both vehicle occupants and other road users. For this recall, a Genesis Motor Australia dealership was to update the ICCU software. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005943.

In August 2024, recall campaign 41D073 was issued for 2021-22 Genesis JX1 GV80 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel pump impeller may deform under certain conditions, interrupting the fuel supply. If this occurred, the engine could stall and the vehicle would experience a sudden loss of motive power. If this occurred whilst driving, the risk of a collision and injury to both vehicle occupants and other road users would be increased. For this recall, a Genesis Motor Australia dealer was to inspect and replace the fuel pump impeller. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-006055.

Recalls: BMW U11 iX1

2022-23 BMW U11 iX1: front left drive shaft could detach

In August 2023, recall campaign 0031100200 was issued for 2022-23 BMW U11 iX1 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the front left drive shaft may become loose and detach from the eDrive. If this occurred, the vehicle would experience a sudden loss of motive power and the driver would be alerted by warning signals in the instrument cluster. A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving increased the risk of a collision and injury for both vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005745.

2022-23 BMW U11 iX1: front right drive shaft could detach

In August 2023, recall campaign 0031110200 was issued for 2022-23 BMW U11 iX1 vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the front right drive shaft may become loose and detach from the eDrive. If this occurred, the vehicle would experience a sudden loss of motive power and the driver would be alerted by warning signals in the instrument cluster. A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving increased the risk of a collision and injury for both vehicle occupants and other road users. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005746.

2022-23 BMW U11 iX1: reduced braking assistance; loss of ABS and DSC

Due to a manufacturing defect, signal interference may occur within the electronics of the brake system. If this occurred, the driver may need to apply greater force to the brake pedal for braking, and braking distances would likely increase. Furthermore, the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and dynamic stability control system (DSC) would not be available. Drivers would be alerted of this condition by the brake warning light in the instrument cluster, and a message in the central display. While the vehicle would remain controllable, the risk of a collision and injury to both vehicle occupants and other road users was increased. For this recall, a BMW dealer was to replace the electronic brake system controller. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see REC-005906.
