Review: Toyota XV20.I Vienta (1997-00)
Overview
Released in July 1997, the Toyota XV20 Series I (XV20.I) Vienta was available as a sedan or wagon. Manufactured in Altona, Victoria, the front-wheel drive Toyota Vienta was based on the XV20 Camry but distinguished by its 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. In September 2000, however, the Vienta was discontinued with the introduction of the XV20 Series II (XV20.II) Camry.
1MZ-FE engine
The 3.0-litre 1MZ-FE engine had an aluminium block, double overhead camshafts (per cylinder bank), four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 10.5:1. A four-speed automatic transmission was fitted as standard.
Dimensions
The XV20 Vienta sedan was 4760 mm long, 1785 mm wide, 1420 mm tall and had a 2670 mm long wheelbase. Wagon models, however, were 15 mm longer (at 4775 mm) and 55 mm taller (1475 mm).
Suspension
The XV20 Vienta had MacPherson strut front suspension and independent rear suspension with twin transverse arms.

Safety equipment
Standard safety equipment for the XV20 Vienta included dual front airbags and ABS.
Features: Vienta VXi and Grande
Standard features for the Vienta VXi included 15-inch alloy wheels, a six speaker sound system with a radio and cassette player, climate control air conditioning, velour upholstery, cruise control, remote central locking, power mirrors and windows, a power antenna and an immobiliser.
The Vienta Grande was further equipped with a single in-dash CD player, a six-disc boot-mounted CD stacker, leather seats, power adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power sunroof and woodgrain interior trim.
