Overview
Released in October 2001, the Hyundai Elantra LaVita was a small, five-seat people mover. Manufactured in Ulsan, South Korea, the front-wheel drive Elantra LaVita was powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was mated to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. The 1.8-litre G4GM ‘Beta’ petrol engine had a cast iron block, alloy cylinder head, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a compression ratio of 10.1:1. As per the table below, the Elantra LaVita range consisted of a single GLS variant.
Built on a variation of the XD Elantra platform, the Elantra LaVita was 4025 mm long, 1740 mm wide, 1685 mm tall and had a 2600 mm long wheelbase. The Elantra LaVita was fitted with MacPherson strut front suspension and independent, multi-link rear suspension (with quad lateral links and twin longitudinal links).

Safety equipment
Standard safety features for the Elantra LaVita included a driver’s airbag, anti-submarining front seats pans and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters. An optional ‘Enhanced Safety Pack’ added a front passenger airbag, ABS and electronic brake force distribution.

Standard features for the Elantra LaVita included 14-inch steel wheels with 185/65 R14 tyres, a six speaker sound system with CD player, air conditioning, driver’s seat height and lumbar adjustment, a rear fog light, remote central locking, power windows and mirrors, a tilt adjustable steering wheel, two 12 volt power outlets, roof rails and an immobiliser. Inside, the Elantra LaVita had fully reclining front seats and 60/40 split, sliding and folding rear seats.
