2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace: front passenger airbag not packed correctly
In September 2018, recall campaign 69W9 was issued for Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace vehicles because they may have contained a defective passenger airbag. When the passenger airbag module was manufactured, the airbag may have been packed incorrectly and this could prevent it from deploying correctly when triggered by a collision. If the airbag did not deploy correctly, then the front passenger would have an increased risk of injury. For the VINs of the recalled Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace vehicles, please see PRA 2018/17004.
2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace: lower shock absorber attachment could come loose
In September 2018, a recall was issued for 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace vehicles because the gas-filled shock absorbers on the rear axle may have had an incorrect weld on the lower securing eye of the shock absorber. The lower shock absorber attachment could therefore come loose – this could compromise vehicle handling and increase the risk of a collision. For the VINs of the recalled Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace vehicles, please see PRA 2018/17003.
2015-18 model year Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace: short circuit for LED module
In January 2019, recall campaign 60C9 was issued for 2015-18 model year Volkswagen BW Tiguan Allspace vehicles. Due to humidity ingress into the LED module, the LED module for the sunroof background lighting could short circuit. This could result in failure of the background lighting and subsequent heating that could cause scorching damage and a burning smell. At worst, a fire could occur. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17305.
2018-19 Volkswagen AD1 Tiguan Allspace: rear coil spring may break
In June 2019, recall campaign 42J4 was issued for 2018 and 2019 Volkswagen AD1 Tiguan Allspace vehicles. For a limited production period, an unapproved material was used in the production of the rear springs. As a result, there was a danger that a coil spring may break and damage the rear tyres. If the tyre were punctured, the driver may lose control of the vehicle and this could lead to a collision. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17543.
2020-21 Volkswagen AD1 Tiguan Allspace: bolts missing from driver’s seat
In March 2021, recall campgin 72L8 was issued for Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 1 December 2020 to 8 March 2021. In these vehicles, bolts may not have been installed on the longitudinal adjustment mechanism of the driver seat. A missing bolt may reduce the seat’s restraint capabillity in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. In the event of a serious collision, this could result in death. For the VINs of the recalled vehicles, please see PRA 2021/18862.
