Recalls: Nissan Z50 Murano

Overview

Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Please note that the recalls below (if any) are for Australian-delivered vehicles only. Furthermore, the number of recalls should not be taken as an indication of a model’s reliability or its safety more generally.

Recalls: Nissan Z50 Murano

  • In March 2006, a recall was issued for Nissan Z50 Murano vehicles because the outer rear seat belt webbing may come into contact with the rear seat back hinge in a frontal collision, potentially cutting the webbing (PRA 2006/8375, R0511).
  • In March 2006, a recall was issued for Nissan Z50 Murano vehicles due to potential damage to the lower edge of the fuel tank due to the front tyre running over a sharp object (PRA 2006/8375), R0516).
  • In June 2009, a recall was issued for Nissan Z50 Murano vehicles that had 3.5-litre ZQ35 engines and were manufactured between April 2005 and November 2007. In these vehicles, the engine air intake duct may become disconnected due to the combination of thermal loading and normal engine vibrations. If this occurred, the engine may exhibit rough idling and, at worst, may stall. The recalled vehicles had VINs in the range JN1TANZ50A0 000026 to JN1TANZ50A0 005945 (PRA 2009/10860, PRA 2009/10877, R090Z).

Problems and faults: Nissan Z50 Murano

  • Knocking or ticking noises from the Nissan Murano’s engine when idling may be attributable to pulses in the fuel line – a revised damper and hose were released for this problem.
  • Vibrations from the front brakes likely require that the rotors be machined and the pads replaced. However, squealing noises from the front brakes when reversing may be fixed with countermeasure pads.
  • When going over speed bumps, clunking or thumping noises from the front suspension – particularly in cold conditions – may be rectified by trimming some rubber from the front strut mounting brackets. If there are noises from the rear brakes when going over bumps, the parking brake may require adjustment.
  • The correct transmission fluid must be used for the continuously variable transmission (CVT) as other products may void the warranty and cause damage.
  • The sunroof may cease functioning due to a loss of memory – this may be fixed by resetting the sunroof.
  • Tyre dressing products can stain the paint finish – Nissan advises against its use.
