Recalls: Hyundai DM Santa Fe
Overview
Manufacturers, or importers, issue recalls for defects or faults which have the potential to cause injury. Generally, manufacturers will inform the original buyers if their vehicle is subject to a recall and of the steps required to remedy the defect or fault. Recalls: Hyundai DM Santa Fe
Hyundai DM Santa Fe 2.4 GDi: debris contamination and engine failure
In June 2017, a recall was issued for Hyundai DM Santa Fe vehicles which had 2.4 GDi engines. During the assembly of engine units, debris contamination may have occurred. As such, prolonged running of the engine with contaminants could cause engine failure – this would cause the vehicle to stop suddenly and increase the risk of a collision. 2012-16 Hyundai DM Santa Fe: bonnet could lift while driving
In August 2017, a recall was issued for Hyundai DM Santa Fe vehicles that were available for sale from 2 April 2012 to 1 July 2016. In these vehicles, the secondary bonnet latch cable could corrode and fail to engage the secondary latch and the bonnet could lift while the vehicle was in motion – this could impair the driver’s visibility, posing a hazard to vehicle occupants and other road users. 2017 Hyundai DM Santa Fe: loss of steering control
In April 2018, a recall was issued for Hyundai DM Santa Fe vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 15 June 2017 to 28 December 2017. In these vehicles, the steering wheel assembly could separate from the steering column while the vehicle was being driven – this would cause a loss of steering control and increase the risk of a collision. 2015-17 Hyundai DM Santa Fe: short circuit in ABS module
In September 2022, recall campaign 21D023 was issued for 2015-17 Hyundai DM Santa Fe vehicles. Due to a manufacturing defect, the circuit board in the Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) module may short circuit when the components were exposed to moisure. This condition could result in a vehicle fire, even when the vehicle was turned off, posing a risk to vehicle occupants, road users, bystanders and property. Until the recall works were completed, affected vehicles were to be parked in an open space and away from flammable materials and structures.
