2012-18 Bentley 3Y Mulsanne: rear seatbelt buckle could detach

In January 2019, recall campaign RE19/01 (RB15) was issued for Bentley Mulsanne and Mulsanne vehicles that were available for sale in Australia from 19 November 2012 to 15 April 2018. In these vehicles, the body mounting panels of the rear seat belt buckle anchorages used an incorrect grade of material such that the anchorages may not meet load requirements if the rear centre seat was occupied at the same time as an outer seat. In the event of a collision, the rear seat belt buckle could become detached from the body structure and cause injury. For the VINs of the recalled Bentley Mulsanne vehicles, please see PRA 2019/17277.

2010-13 Bentley 3Y Mulsanne: harsh gearshifts

For 2010-13 Bentley 3Y Mulsanne vehicles, gear shift performance when in ‘D’ mode may be harsh or not as smooth as expected. To fix, the Bentley dealer was not to carry out the standard ‘Transmission adaption process’, but to follow the procedure document in Bentley Motors’ Technical Production Information 2035309/2.

2010-13 Bentley 3Y Mulsanne: auxiliary coolant pump hose replacement

For 2010-13 Bentley 3Y Mulsanne vehicles, the four hoses through which engine coolant flowed in the auxiliary pump (V51) circuit had an internal upper pressure specification that was less than the system’s peak operating pressures – in high ambient temperatures, this could lead to hose failure and coolant loss. To fix, the pressure specification of this hose group was increased and new hoses – which had new part numbers – were released to be fitted to existing vehicles.

In the event of a coolant hose failure, the engine needed to be shut down to prevent severe engine damage. For further information, please see Bentley Motors’ Campaign E776.
